Are Best Western Hotels Dog Friendly?

As all Best Western Hotels are unique, they all have their own unique pet policy. This means that not all Best Western Hotels allow dogs to come and stay. They still have around 100 dog friendly hotels to choose from though, so the chances are you’ll find something in the area you’re searching for. It’s always best to check with the hotel before booking though to clarify the rules with them.

What Rules Do Best Western Have Regarding Dogs?

Because of the individual nature of Best Western Hotels, the rules regarding dogs will differ from hotel to hotel. However, there are a few rules of thumb that you should be aware of before booking yourself in:

  • Expect to pay a surcharge for bringing a dog. Every hotel we looked at when researching this piece wanted an additional fee for every dog that stayed in the room to cover the extra cleaning needed. The amount will vary depending on the hotel. Some we’ve seen will charge £10 for the whole stay, whereas others will charge between £10-£15 per night. Some hotels will also charge more for large dogs than small dogs.

  • Bring your own dog bed. As a general rule, Best Western don’t provide dog beds for your pooch, so make sure to bring your own bed or blanket from home. This is something we’d recommend doing regardless, as your dog will settle more comfortably in something familiar.

  • Ensure your dog is well behaved and quiet in the evening. This one goes without saying really, but the other hotel guests won’t be too chuffed if your dog is keeping them up all night with their barking. Likewise, if your dog is liable to chew all the room furniture the second you turn your back, you’re probably best leaving them at home.

Aside from the above, other rules are completely at the discretion of the hotel. We’d recommend phoning the hotel directly for any other information you may want to know, like whether dogs are allowed in the restaurant or not.

Why Can't I Book My Dog In Online?

You may notice that when you try to book in online, there’s no option to add on a dog to your reservation. As some Best Western hotels only allow dogs in certain rooms, we’d recommend contacting the hotel prior to booking to check which rooms are suitable. Once you’ve done this, book your room online as normal, then contact the hotel to let them know you’ll be bringing your dog. They’ll then let you know what the total charge will be and when this is payable.

Which Other Hotel Chains Are Dog Friendly?

If you’re struggling to find a dog friendly Best Western in your preferred destination, it might be worth looking for a Travelodge instead. All 500+ hotels across the UK welcome up to two dogs per room, and it only costs £20 per dog for your whole stay. For more information on Travelodge, read our in-depth article here.
