Is Toby Carvery Dog Friendly?
Is Toby Carvery Dog Friendly?
Toby Carvery is one of the best known pub chains in the UK, famous for their mouth watering Sunday roast dinners (their buffet breakfasts aren’t to be sniffed at either in my opinion). With over 100 restaurants found across the length and breadth of the country, you’re likely to find one nearby no matter where you’ve been travelling. However, not all pubs in this chain welcome our four-legged friends.
Only guide dogs and assistance dogs are welcome in all branches in all Toby Carvery locations. Otherwise, it’s at the discretion of each pub as to whether dogs are allowed in. It’s essential to check with the restaurant you intend visiting before you arrive with the dog in tow.
What Rules Do Toby Carvery Have Regarding Dogs?
Because the dog policy of each Toby Carvery location will differ, you can expect a slightly different dining experience from each location. Don’t assume that because you were allowed to do certain things with your dog in one pub, you’ll be able to do the same in every Toby Carvery. However, there are a few rules of thumb that you should be aware of before booking yourself in:
- Expect to be limited to certain areas of the pub. We’ve not come across a Toby Carvery that will let you bring your dog into the main restaurant section of the pub (guide and assistant dogs notwithstanding). If you’re allowed to bring your dogs inside, expect to be sat in the bar area rather than the main restaurant. In some locations, dogs are only permitted in outside areas – it’s a good idea to check this before arriving on a wet and windy day!
- Keep your dog on a lead. Dogs should be under your control at all times when on the premises. They shouldn’t be allowed to wander around off leash and beg for roast beef from the other tables!
- Ensure your dog is well behaved. Dogs are welcome on the condition that they behave well and do not disturb the other patrons. If your dog is barking incessantly, acting in an aggressive manner towards other customers or staff, or damaging furniture, you won’t be welcome for very long. We normally bring a blanket from home and treats to help Flynn settle in when we’re eating out. A long walk beforehand to tire him out usually helps too!
Aside from the above, other rules are completely at the discretion of the specific pub you’re visiting. We’d strongly recommend phoning the location directly for any other information you may want to know.
Can I Book My Dog In Online?
There is no specific option to book your dog in when making an online booking. You can only select how many people are attending. There is a special requests box (as shown in the picture below) that you can use to state you are bringing a dog, but I’d only make use of this if you already know that the restaurant definitely takes dogs. If you want to book in online, you can do so here.
